This investment was made in response to the increased demand for Fuji's products AstaREALR and AstaCaroxR . BioReal Sweden is the pioneer of commercial cultivation of the unicellular alga Haematococcus pluvialis for the production of natural astaxanthin for use in human and animal nutrition. Using in-door bioreactors which are fully controlled, enables high yields and stable output at optimal conditions all year around. “We've just successfully realized this project, at the same time we've demonstrated that our production technique based on modules easily allows us to enlarge production capacity to meet the growing demand”, says Ake Lignell, General Manager of BioReal (Sweden) AB. The expansion, which was decided about six months ago, almost doubles our production capacity. The algal biomass can also be further processed into a high potency oil extract, AstaREALR.
